I’ve been quiet for a while, again. I thought I had lots to say when I started blogging, but it seems harder and harder as time goes by. What could be the reason?

I guess one reason is that I use to be a guy that never opened his mouth unless he had to. Well, that has changed – nowadays I just can’t keep my mouth shut when I’m with familiar people. But still I’m very quiet when I’m around people I don’t know well – or at all. I’m sometimes the kind of guy that says the things that need to be said and nothing more. Well, I guess many Finns are like that…

Maybe this (blogging) is so hard because I don’t really know you, my readers. (If there is any, heh.) It’s hard to tell who ends up reading my writings, so I can’t really relate to my audience. Do you know what I am trying to say?

One solution might be to blog just for myself, but that would seem a little bit idiotic. Why would I keep my blog online if I would be doing it only for myself? I could just write an old-fashioned diary and hide it in my drawer or somewhere else, safe from the wicked world. But no, that’s not the case here.

So what is blogging about then and why do I blog? I guess it is because we all want to belong to some sort of a community and have similar-minded people around us. Although I’m sometimes a hermit, I’m still a human and I have my need to communicate with others of same kind.

So I guess I shall continue my journey as an rather untalkative blogger. Are there any others of same kind? Anyone? No? Oh.

A new beginning · Sunday January 14, 2007

It was about a year ago that I launched my previous homepage. Even though it has been fun and interesting to develop Wädeweb, it is time for a new direction. The birth of Waatti.org.

Looking back at the things I achieved with Wädeweb, I can say I’m quite satisfied with it, but I’m hoping to achieve a lot more this time. Biggest problems with Wädeweb in my opinion were the lack of updates and the amateurism that gleamed through it. I have lots of more experience now and I hope I can use that experience to make this website much better than the last one. We’ll see as time flows by…

So what is going to change now that Waatti.org has born? First of all, this time I’m using Textpattern as my CMS and I think it’s going to make updating content a lot easier. With Wädeweb I used my own CMS, which was nothing but a slipshod interface to update thoughts and my record collection on the site. Other content was more or less updated manually, although I automatized some things with PHP code. One word to describe it: amateurish.

Going further with planning Waatti.org I thought I’d begin to make some free website templates to be featured here. Playing with CSS is one of my favourite hobbies right now, so why wouldn’t I practice it more and share my creations with you guys.
